It will be fun to see someone who idolizes you to show how much they adore your works and persona, Taehyung-ah. I’m now thinking of making a list of questions I’d like to ask you. I’ve been writing them in my letters before, so I think it’s also time to gather them and make a recap of your previous achievements as well. What’s so worthy of admiration and respect on September 1 for us is the great mark of you being South Korea’s national pride as Honorary Tourism Ambassador of Seoul with the release of your New Tradition Official Music Video on that day. Is it going to be a song, Taehyung-ah, or will it be a long promotional ad? It would be super awesome if it’s going to be on many platforms. I recently saw a Cartier ad with Lily Collins and I imagine you doing the same for the brand. Woah, I’m sure seeing your beauty will make sooo many people’s heart skip a beat. If it’s going to be a song, I wonder if you’ll be the one singing or performing it. Whatever the form of the ad is, I’m sure there will be a lot of beautiful scenes with you, right? I’m suddenly remembering Hyundai’s promotional ad with IONIQ: I’m On It Official Music Video in 2020 (and exclusive track) and Yet to Come MV in 2022 that both put you in the center. I love them both on a personal and an objective level. They’re just so wonderfully, creatively, and intuitively made.

I wonder if Tannie will also make a guest appearance with you. Woah, it would be so cute and so sweet to see your beautiful and funny interaction. I am imagining Tannie running back to you like what he did when he was young in a clip back in 2018. I remember him barking at someone and then quickly running to you for refuge and barking again when he’s finally in your arms. That’s so cute. I wonder if it was an exclusive content from BTS Memories DVD in 2018. Also, that scene of him suddenly coming out of your bag when he was officially introduced the first time in 2017 was super touching too. I feel like crying. He was so small and so ash grey back then. I think he was able to fit into one of your big hands, Taehyung-ah, like that scene of him shaking his head and tiny body while walking so fast and you’re trying to capture him with one hand. I wonder if you can remember it. Isn’t it so cute?
I think you have to use both of your arms to carry Tannie now. I’m sooo happy and sooo proud to see him growing up sooo beautifully and well. I hope he’s not been frequently sick lately. It was really making us sad when you said he had a surgery before that had not been successful. You may have studied a lot of first aid practices for Tannie, right? When you adopted him knowing that he was not healthy back in 2017, you really have such a big heart, Taehyung-ah. We have sooo much respect and admiration for you. You’ve made sooo many kind and honorable things and I’m sure the universe is constantly giving you back a hundred-of-a-million-fold for all those goodness. You’re doing sooo amazing, Taehyung-ah, then, now, and in the future.
I’m also super touched and super happy by your concept photos for your album, Layover, Taehyung-ah. You feel super relatable and motivating. The scenes of you in a typical daily life, playing music, painting, doing your own craft, sipping wine or juice at home or at a coffee shop, traveling, being at a crossroad (which could be figuratively representing your present moment), being on photoshoots with your blonde hair, behind-the-scenes for your singles, Love Me Again and Rainy Days, and a lot more – they showed us both an ordinary and a deeper side of you, Taehyung-ah, and I wonder how many of us would be able to figure out your hidden message.
I really love your black hair, especially your signature shiny and wavy hair from 2021-2022. Seeing you with a blonde or a straight black hair is giving us a refreshingly gorgeous look, and I can’t choose which is better. I wonder what will be the setting for your album’s Photo 4 concept, which will be revealed on September 6. They’ll surely be including some behind-the-scenes photos from your remaining MVs, Slow Dancing, Blue, and For Us, and I wonder how they will complete the concept for your debut album, Taehyung-ah.
The MVs for your first two singles are really beautiful. I still can’t figure out why those two were set in Spain, but they’re really making great exposure and impact in Europe for you, your singles and album, as well as for South Korea-Spain tourism relations. I like how you’re making a foothold in the European continent on your own, Taehyung-ah. It’s no wonder how your songs, Love Me Again, Rainy Days, and Winter Bear, have reached #1 on European iTunes and charted in other charts in the area too, especially that the scenes in these MVs were taken in the continent (even with your Winter Bear that was previously released on YouTube in 2019).
An army already said about the allegory of the cave, or Plato’s Cave, theory that inspired your Love Me Again MV. It’s a really beautiful analysis about discovering something liberating and empowering but others are unwilling to follow suit as they “do not even desire to leave their prison, for they know no better life” (Wikipedia 2023). I think it makes so much sense and I feel very sorry and empathic for anyone who has gone through unfair treatment and loss of freedom and self-worth to thrive. If you were singing inside the cave with those beautiful stalactites and stalagmites in the background and somehow emulating the tourist spot’s popular “‘Magical Mozart’ concert accompanied by a light show” played by musicians who navigate the caves’ “Sea of Venice” (though you’re singing with a karaoke instead of playing in a small rowboat), your Love Me Again MV, following the allegory of the cave, could be symbolizing your life as part of BTS navigating the world of music, and also literally touring the world. I think it’s the same for music industry or the rest of the show business in general, though some options are indeed more humane, respectful, and would bring you to your fullest potential than others.
If I were to make my own interpretation of the MV, I may be following a more personal approach like dreaming, or more specifically, suddenly stumbling on something so beautiful that we get to wonder if they’re real or if they can last forever and keep coming back to us no matter what. The lyrics of the song and how you sang them with emotions that would make me cry sooo many times, the look in your eyes, the time the MV was filmed and all the things that happened back then and soon afterwards – they’re all gripping and very important messages, Taehyung-ah. You were angry and sad and even though you might be in the most beautiful cave, or in the most beautiful place in the world, I wonder if you’re happy. I feel very sorry and very afraid that I want to go to you (if only I could, I would really do it). I want to share every moment with you, both the good and the sad ones.
I’ve read that the beautiful and mesmerizing cave/s, which could either be the Cuevas del Drach or Coves del Hams, or both, in Majorca, Spain, was found and mapped by a French explorer and scientist Édouard-Alfred Martel, the founding father of speleology (the study of caves), who made a statement that I think was so powerful about making wonders during the World Expo 1889 in Paris, France – the same expo that birthed the famous Eiffel Tower (South Korea may be able to redeem its image in the prestigious event if chosen for World Expo 2030). In Martel’s words about the Languedoc caves in South France: “No man has gone before us in these depths, no one knows where we go nor what we see, nothing so strangely beautiful was ever presented to us, and spontaneously we ask each other the same question: are we not dreaming?” (Wikipedia 2023). Both the Cuevas del Drach and the Coves del Hams are “integral part of the [country’s] tourism industry”, and this MV is really representing a lot of beautiful and hugely important things.
Your Rainy Days was also filmed in Spain and it’s awesome how it indirectly included Tannie, too, with Rocky as a stand-in. The MV is very creative and exciting, with sooo many beautiful scenes with you being comfy, handsome, and boyfriend. I really love how every second (or even millisecond) of the video is well-crafted, meaningful, intuitive, and well-spent. I love the details and I love how detail-oriented you are, Taehyung-ah. You have really put a lot of relatable, and also symbolic, things in the backdrop, and I feel like there is more to it than what meets the eye so everyone would be compelled to watch it again and again to find out more. This approach is a great signature, Taehyung-ah, and I’m very excited for your upcoming MVs.
I think the Rainy Days MV also has picture-perfect scenes – be it sleeping alone, eating alone (with Tannie watching), watching something on TV as if you’re waiting for something that could also make you laugh or cry, painting or crafting something with the MV that is also showing how you’re an art yourself, how your beauty often being called as art and likened to Greek statues, and how your shadows are praised for being beautiful themselves. I’m curious, though, (and uncomfortable) about the angel or devil art in your MV. Personally, I hope you won’t follow that path or theme in your projects. It’s not my intention to be restricting, but I think that approach would not be compatible with your greater audience and already established humanitarian recognition, though it’s also not uncommon for you to have audiences who are mature and who have varied interests.
I’m thinking about writing another letter to fully analyze this video and all the upcoming ones, especially for your title track, Slow Dancing. I have a feeling that your fans and armys like the MV for Rainy Days more than Love Me Again and that could be why it keeps leading iTunes worldwide. If your videos weren’t put on a freeze by YouTube at the time of its release, I’m sure your views for this MV would have skyrocketed on the platform too. I just wonder how expensive the set for this MV had been with all the details and creativity put into it. Still, this MV is something you can be proud of and I really hope it will be worthwhile and pay off soon enough.
It’s also great that NewJeans, who are managed by Producer Minhee Jin-nim, who helped you with the MV, are continuously showing support and fondness for the song, with one of the members recently making a cover for it. I wonder if you can also release an acoustic or piano version of the song, Taehyung-ah. I feel like a sentimental approach to the song would also be good. I’m reminded of how solemn and beautiful was Kim Juna’s acoustic version of Divine Move, one of the OSTs for Hwarang where you have been a main cast and where you have also contributed to an OST with Jin, It’s Definitely You.
You’re so sweet and so amazing. You’ve really been working so hard for this and my respect, admiration, and love for you grow more and more, Taehyung-ah (and I already love you sooo much). I am super happy and super proud of you, Taehyung-ah, and I know that sooo many of your fans and armys feel the same way too.
