Happy 5th anniversary to our Taehyung’s “Sweet Night,” the song he wrote, composed, produced, and performed! 🥳🎉👏🙌 I really liked this song before, and I think our Taehyung ruled 2020 as a Korean or K-pop soloist, with this song that let him debut at #1 on MelOn, Bugs, Hanteo, and iChart, and #2 on FLO, Genie, and Soribada!

I also wrote a post in 2023 dedicated to the achievements of his “Sweet Night.” Let me just write an overview here. Congratulations on being #1 in 119 countries on iTunes, debuting at #1 in 77 countries, as well as garnering #1 in the US, UK, and on Worldwide iTunes! 🥳🎉👏🙌 Congratulations, too, on having the first song to reach 119 #1s on iTunes, breaking Adele’s previous record and setting a record for all musicians on the platform! 🥳🎉👏🙌 Our Taehyung went from breaking 87 #1s as the first Korean soloist to do so, 90 #1s as the first and only Asian soloist to do so, 108 #1s as the first artist in the world to do so, and now 119 #1s, still the first artist in the world to do so on iTunes! 🥳🎉👏🙌 That’s really amazing! Congratulations, too, on having his song charting at #1 on YouTube Worldwide Trends! 🥳🎉👏🙌 I feel that if our Taehyung had 100% control over his projects, be it music, photoshoots, or any other project, they would be twice as successful!
I’ll also add what one of his fans and ARMYs noted as one of his achievements, like having ALL KILL on Korean music charts, debuting at #2 on Billboard US Digital Songs chart, most-streamed K-OST on Spotify for three consecutive years from 2020-2022, first K-OST to ever be certified Gold in the USA, and winning Best OST at the APAN Star Awards in 2020! 🥳🎉👏🙌 It’s hard to say that this is just a Korean OST with no promotions, and I think I haven’t seen our Taehyung promoting it anywhere, be it on Weverse or Twitter, since he still didn’t have an Instagram account back then, but still this song made it!
“Sweet Night” and “Layover”
His “Sweet Night” was supposed to be a part of his mixtape or his first album. When I look at his debut album, Layover, I can really see how the lyrics match the story narrated by his album. His “Sweet Night” could be the first track, before “Rainy Days.” However, if we focus on genre, then this pop acoustic or indie pop genre might not mix well with Layover’s pop R&B jazz. I’m still very happy that he released both of them. Our Taehyung mentioned before that he had about eight tracks ready for his mixtape. I still haven’t gotten an answer about when the tracks in Layover were composed. They could be his songs from 2020, right? But he said they were all discarded or deleted. Regardless, I’m happy that he has finally released more than a mixtape. I’m so looking forward to another album that he’ll release, and I worry that it will take us another three years 😭😭😭 But knowing he’ll come back with a lot of solo activities, I feel fine and excited.
I’m still awaiting a possibility where he’ll officially release “Travel with Me,” “1234evermore,” “When You Smile, I Smile,” and more songs that he has let us listen to through his Instagram account, Weverse, or Twitter/X. I love what one of his fans said—that he took Layover as a chance to showcase his vocals live. Indeed, he sounds so good as if he’s just recording in the studio. I love listening to our Taehyung sing and perform.
Wooga Squad Collaboration
I wonder if our Taehyung will also release a Korean OST for one of Park Hyung-sik’s K-drama series. It just crossed my mind, like it’s a streak for his Wooga Squad. He already has “Sweet Night” for Park Seo-joon’s drama series, “Itaewon Class”; “Christmas Tree” for Choi Woo-shik’s drama series, “Our Beloved Summer”; and “Snow Flower” song collaboration with Peakboy, so I get to think he’ll also have some collaboration with Park Hyung-sik’s drama series in the near future, right? I’m really so happy that he has released a song, “Winter Ahead”, with Park Hyo-shin. It’s such a beautiful song. The lyrics are so sweet that I have kept listening to it when I go to sleep. In BTS, I came across a video of one of his fans and ARMYs, and it listed the songs he has composed before, like “Stigma,” “Winter Bear,” “Snow Flower,” “4 o’clock,” “Boyz with Fun,” “Hold Me Tight,” “Inner Child,” and I think he has also composed “Run.”
A Meaningful Artistry
Our Taehyung’s songs are so thoughtful and meaningful, and I only admire him more and more. He has painted such a meaningful artistry with his songs. I still remember the songs he composed in BTS discography, like “Inner Child,” “Blue & Grey,” and “4 o’clock.” They’re all so beautiful and soulful. He’s very serious and hardworking with the things he’s given, and that’s why he has succeeded. That’s something that can’t be stolen, and he’s the best at it. Congratulations! 🥳🎉👏🙌
There are just 89 days left before our Taehyung is discharged from the military. It feels like three months will pass by in a blink of an eye again. It makes me even more excited. I want to see him so badly. I know he’s excited to make a comeback, too. I wonder what he has prepared for us.
To your Taehyung, find time to rest well, okay? You got a very serious injury, so please take good care of yourself. It’s hard to do it, but if you weigh the good and the bad on a scale, I hope you can count more of the good things. I’m always looking up to you, Taehyung-ah.
